When a hiring manager is interviewing you, they’ve already decided you have the qualifications for the job. The interview is designed to figure out if you will be fit, if you will be a good investment and won’t be a problem. They want to know that you have also thought through this process and are discerning in your desire to pursue this position with their company. In other words, they also want to be wanted!
Why our company and this job opportunity?
What you should know: The employer wants to hear that they over every other employer have some trait or characteristic that you have both noticed and align with. This will require you do your homework ahead of time to discover what that is. It could be corporate culture, fast pace, open communication style or any number of things. You don’t want to be vague, know exactly and ready to let them know what you see in their company and this position.
Answer: Your company is the embodiment of a great company due to its ongoing innovation in technology. It’s clearly a corporate value and the clearest proof of that is your willingness to invest in your R&D at levels not seen elsewhere in the industry. That tells me you plan to grow and that is the type of company I want to work for. This position is at the center of this strategy. I can bring some new perspectives to it and it is perfectly positioned to ensure ongoing growth and opportunity which is what my goal is in pursuing this position.
